A couple of years ago, a friend wanted to buy a Miata. Short version, we ended up at Preston Automotive in Maryland. Good price and $100 processing fee.
So, I got on the Internet and did a search for Honda dealers in Maryland. I started checking their inventories looking for 2010 Ridgelines. At one dealership's Website, a little "box" thing popped up and a fellow said, Hi. Well, kinda weird, hey. Anyway, we started "talking" if you will, and I told him I wanted to buy a Ridgeline. He referred me to their Internet representative, Emily Moore, who had gone home for the evening. I left a message on her phone recorder and asked that she send me, by email, a price on the Ridgeline that I wanted. And, she did, and yes, it was a "good" price.
I hadn't paid any attention to where the dealers were...I had just gone from dealer to dealer checking inventories. Was funny, after leaving the message, I found that her dealership, Shockley, was in Frederick, for cryin' out loud. Yes, have to go right past DC to get there.
Anyway, I then called Emily. No she said, her dealership didn't have a 2010 but she'd get me one from another dealer. I gave Emily a $500 deposit and she found me a Ridgeline. We agreed on a Saturday delivery.
BTW, I had never driven a Ridgeline, though I was sure I'd like it, part of the "deal," if you will, was that I drive it before I buy it.
Why I Won't Buy a Car in Virginia...or, at least not in Tidewater.
I recently bought a 2010 Honda Ridgeline truck. After talking to two local dealers, in Virginia Beach, I felt as though they truly did not care about earning my business, and they both were going to charge me a $500 processing fee. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, $500 so that I could buy a car from them. I decided that there was no way I could justify or even rationalize the $500 fee.
Want a reasonable and fair price on a Honda?
Folks, if you're in the market for a Honda, you might want to give Emily a call, at 1-866-607-6543. She is professional, pleasant, and I'm sure will give you a competitive price without any haggling or hassle.

Emily was a good sport to pose for this photo. It was over 90 degrees!
